This is completely unrelated to weight loss, I just need to get my excitement out somewhere!

So, My hubby and I went to the mall together yesterday and went to a pet store inside the mall.  We were just casually walking around, I usually like to go look at the puppies but they didn’t have any. Which by the way, was most deff a good thing because most pet stores get puppies from puppy mills and buying a dog from a pet store only funds the puppy mills more, if you don’t know what a puppy mill is please google it, its a terrible thing.  Anyways, we’re walking around and we get to the bird section and there is this poor parrot these boys are harassing, like 7 of them were surrounding his cage yelling things at him trying to get him to talk and you could tell the parrot was very stressed.  One of them looked up and noticed my hubby and I staring at them and giving them dirty looks so eventually we scared them all off with our death stare so they left the poor thing alone haha.  I went up to the cage and said “Hi” and right away it said “Hi, pretty bird.”  It was very cute but he was very expensive and even though a felt a pang on my heart for him I just can not afford $2,000.00 for a bird.  As we were talking to the parrot I noticed these smaller very pretty colored birds in a few separate cages next to me.  They looked like small parrots.  There was a girl sticking her finger in one of the cages and when I looked over to see what she was doing I realized she was actually petting the bird and it was like all fluffed up loving being pet.  When I walked over she asked if I wanted to pet it and of course I said yes.  This little bird could not get enough of being pet, I was petting its head and chest and every time you stopped it would stick its little head between the bars like ‘hey, why’d you stop?’  We found out the type of bird it was is a “Conure Parrot” They’re basically small to medium sized parrots but most can’t talk like other parrots.  There were a few others in different cages so I attempted to pet them too and they were okay with it!  These little birds are so affectionate and loving and they stole my heart right away.

I went home and did TONS of research on these babies because I cannot stop thinking about them.  The ones in the pet store were called Green Cheek Conures and there are many different mutations of the color for Green Cheek Conure and one of them being the Rose Crown Conure which is the one I first pet.  They were $250.00 - $500.00 at the pet store and even though I fell in love I know that I can’t just up a buy a bird w/o knowing how to care for them or anything.  Also, as I mentioned before supporting pet stores when you don’t know exactly where they get their animals from can be bad.   They may not take proper care of the animals either, especially since when we asked the people working there what type of bird was in the cage they had no idea.  These poor birds had a lot of Knicks and cuts in their beaks too and they were still so lovey and affectionate, it was heart breaking.   Even though I automatically wanted to buy one and nurse it back to health I just wouldn’t be able to afford it.   I also looked up breeders and found many breeders for many of the different color mutations and the prices were a lot less than the pet store.    I need one of these birds.   I fell in love and I want to learn everything about them and prepare myself to be able to get one.  My hubby said once we move and get settled and I feel confident enough in my knowledge on how to care for them we can get one.  I am sooooooo excited!  I’m sorry about this tumblr but I had to share this somewhere! Haha
